The On Target Story
Mike and Sam met in 2023 and quickly realised that as well as a common professional background, they shared a passion for human factors, human performance and providing engaging education and training.
They had also sat through their fair share of repetitive and mundane ‘annual’ and recurrent training. So, they formed On Target, impassioned to help teams like yours benefit from their experience and knowledge; to be that ‘something different’ you and your teams are craving!

Meet the Founders
MIKE MASON
Co-Founder
Squadron Leader Mike Mason served for 20 years in the Royal Air Force flying the Harrier Jump Jet, the Eurofighter Typhoon and the F-18 Hornet and finished his career as a senior leader on a frontline fighter squadron. He now serves as an instructor with the Royal Australian Air Force, teaching the next generation of fighter pilots. He has amassed well over 3000 flying hours; flown from aircraft carriers; and deployed to multiple different combat zones.
As Mike progressed through his career, he became more and more aware that technology and equipment can only get you so far. To be the best you can be, Mike knows it is vital to consider the ‘Human Factor’.
As well as using Human Factors in the flying world, both with the military and now in the business world with On Target, he also provides training to scuba divers to help improve their performance and safety.
SAM "WHIPPET" GLADMAN
Co-Founder
Squadron Leader Sam “Whippet” Gladman served for over 15 years in the Royal Australian Air Force operating the F/A-18F Super Hornet for over 1400 hours in peacetime and conflict. Whippet finished his flying career as an instructor-of-instructors on ‘Supers’ and was well reputed for his tailored and passionate Non Technical Skills (NTS) and Human Factors (HF) training.
His recognised NTS expertise saw Whippet appointed as an Aircraft Accident Investigator in his final military role before leaving the Defence Force
Now, as the Chief Operations Officer for an international unmanned aerial systems (Drone) company, and a former Human Factors Consultant, Whippet ‘walks the walk’, applying and espousing the HF and NTS principles that On Target will teach you, to his own corporate teams.
